Weisse Wand - Alpine pasture
Weisse Wand - Alpine pasture
Starting from the Weissensee Haus, it's an easy cycle along the south shore path. We cycle past an old hayrack and the model of the old wooden bridge to the OMW petrol station at the western end of the lake. At the crossroads at the OMV petrol station (service station), turn right. After approx. 200m on the country road, we turn left onto a forest road that leads us to the "Weiße Wand". During the ascent, there are always wonderful views of Lake Weissensee. To get directly to the "Weiße Wand", an impressive rock formation with a view of the lake, you have to turn right a short distance from the main forest road (approx. 150m). From the "Weiße Wand" it is then a little uphill until you get your first view of the Drau Valley. After a short descent - over some very rough scree - we reach the last, quite stable ascent, which leads us to the highest point of the tour (1547m). From here it's downhill to the alpine pasture behind Brunn (refreshments & service). Here you should fortify yourself with one of the homemade specialities. Recovered and refreshed, we continue our tour towards the valley. Passing the Alm hinterm Brunn Bründl and the "Mühlwand", you also have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking views of Lake Weissensee during this descent. Once we reach the main road, we turn right towards Techendorf.
